The good news is that the tubing for the Medela breast pumps is one of the least expensive parts to replace. However, there are several different Medela tubes available to fit the various breast pumps, and it is easier than one would think to end up with the wrong tubes. The top table shows a complete list of Medela tubing -- both those that are current and those that have been discontinued. If you know the Medela tube number you need, order from this table. Tubing for Medela Pump In Style Breast Pumps. Medela item #8007212 and #87212 are exactly the same tube. The individual tube has the number 8007212, a pair of those same tubes are number 87212. Two tubes are needed to double pump with the Pump In Style breast pumps.

This Medela tube is used on all models of the (now discontinued) Medela Original Professional Pump In Style breast pump, the Medela Pump In Style Traveler breast pump, and the Medela Pump In Style Companion breast pumps. It is also used on the Pump In Style Advanced breastpump with the words Pump In Style printed in a lavender/blue color on the faceplate. (If your Pump in Style Advanced has the name printed all in black please order Medela tube #8007214 -- see below)

These Medela tubes are clear plastic, with one soft end with no adapter, and a cream colored hard carbonate-free plastic adapter on the other end. The hard adapter end of the Medela tubing is plugged into the back of the breastshield connector, and the plain end of the tubing attaches to the front of the breast pump. If you are switching to this pump tubing, after using one of the discontinued tubes, be sure to attach the tubes the correct direction -- a lot of moms used the old style tubes the wrong way around, decreasing the suction of their pump. We do include instructions on outside of each tubing package.

What all these faceplates have in common is they all have stems that stick out of the faceplate as shown below.

If you have a faceplate with these stems and you are using a tube with a large yellow and white adapter on one end (#8007213 or #8007214) you should change them out for the correct tubes. Many moms obtain tubes in a kit given to them in the hospital that contains tubes. Those hospital kits are intended to use with hospital pumps, not the Pump In Style. The large yellow and white adapter can easily damage the stems on the faceplate.

Medela pump tube #8007214. also called #87214
Silicone tube for Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump manufactured prior to 2006, and also for the Medela Symphony Breastpump. This tube had a two tone yellow and white adapter one end and a small cream colored adapter on the other end. It is made of soft cloudy looking silicone. It is not recommended that you use this tube with other models of the Pump In Style other than the Advanced model, as it is like to break the diaphragm cap or face plate ports. If your pump has the name Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump printed in black ink across the top of the faceplate this is the correct tube to use. This is also the tube to choose for all Symphony Breastpumps.

Medela pump tube #8007213
Medela pump tubing for the Medela Lactina Breast Pump and Medela Classic Breastpump. This style tube has one two tone yellow end that is round in shape, and one end with a cream colored adapter. This is the tube that is currently included in Lactina Double Pump Kits.
Some moms will receive this tube in a hospital kit, or in a purchased kit, and think it can be used on their Medela Pump In Style Breastpump. It will fit! However, it is not recommended for use with the Pump In Style. It can be used on the Advanced Pump In Style Breastpump that has Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump printed in black across the top of the faceplate, but should not be ussed with any other models of the Pump In Style, as it will likely break off the ports.

Silicone tube for Medela Swing Breast Pump This tube originally had a two tone yellow and white adapter on each end of the tube, but the new deisgn has a cream adapter one end and a large adapter the other end. Either design will fit the pump. It is made of soft cloudy looking silicone. It is designed to be used specifically with the Medela Swing Breast Pump. This tube is much shorter than the tubes for the Pump In Style, although the ends look the same. The length of the tube affects the suction of the pump.

Medela pump tube #8007062
Old style tubing for Medela Lactina Breast Pump, and Medela Classic Breast Pump. Medela item #8007062. This tubing was used on the Medela Lactina Plus Breast Pump and the Medela Lactina Select Breast Pump. The tubing is clear plastic with a yellow adapter on one end that can be described as a tulip or Christmas tree shape, and a clear hard adapter on the other end. The yellow adapter fits onto the breast pump, and the clear end attaches to the breastshield connector.
Do nnot use this tube for the Pump In Style. It will most likely break the ports on the faceplate, and may provide reduced suction
Medela is no longer making this tube. If your Lactina pump has this tube you will need to change to the new style Lactina tube #8007213, and purchase a new style Lactina Yellow Connector to attach the tubes to your pump. All other pump pieces will remain the same. The Lactina connector is available on the Lactina Pump Page

Medela pump tube #8007179
Medela pump tubing for the Lactina Breast Pump. This style tube has one two tone yellow end that is round in shape, and one end with a clear adapter. As of July 2006 this tube has been discontinued and replaced by tube #8007213 (below). The only difference in the two tubes is that the new tube #8007213 has a cream colored adapter instead of a clear adapter. Tube #8007213 will fit any pump that used tube #8007179.

This tube is no longer being made -- it has now been replaced by tube #8007214 (See below) This tube had the same pale yellow and white adapter on one end as tube #8007214 above. The only difference between the two tubes is that this one has a clear hard adapter whereas tube #8007214 has the updated cream colored adapter to attach it to the breastshield connector. It is not recommended that you use this tube with other models of the Pump In Style other than the Advanced model, as it is like to break the diaphragm cap or face plate ports.

Medela discontinued making this tubing in 2003. It has been replaced by tube #8007212 (see first tube on this page). Tube #8007212 has the same plain tube end as #8007071 but the clear hard adapter is replaced by a slimmer cream colored adapter, and made of an improved material. Tube #8007212 will fit your pump providing you put it on round the correct way. Why would we mention that? The adapter on tube #8007071 was wide enough that it would fit on the front of the pump as easily as it would to the breastshield connector. So, a lot of moms put the tube on round the wrong way, and the pump worked, but they were not getting the best suction possible. The hard adapter should be attached to the back of the breastshield connector, and the plain tube end slides over the port on the front of the pump faceplate.
As tube #8007071 is no longer available we will be glad to send you its replacement tube #8007212 which will fit your pump.
