Older style breastshields are purchased individually. Some women also like to use the small breastshield inserts which fit inside the breastshield. Whether you choose to use those or not is simply a matter of personal comfort. Newer pumps contain the new two piece breastshield and connector assembly which are generally purchased in pairs. Each Medela breast pump comes with at least one, and up to four collections bottles. Instead of a solid lid, a bottle collar and nipple can be used, so you can feed the baby direct from the bottle. A bottle cap will cover the nipple unit for storage. In addition a bottle disc is available. This seals the bottle when a bottle collar is being used, and the nipple is removed. All the Medela bottle parts shown are interchangeable with one another, and the bottles have a universal thread. And, most importantly Medela bottles are BPA free. Even though they are not glass bottles they are BPA free and safe for your baby. |

The largest replaceable part on the front control panel of the Pump In Style pumps is the diaphragm cap. For older models this is a large circular cloudy looking piece in the middle of the panel, that seals like a Tupperware dish. It is the part that you hook the tubes onto.

One diaphragm cap Use tube #8007212 with this diaphragm cap. The tube end with no adapter, just a plain tube, attaches to the pump diaphragm cap. Use of a tube with a large yellow and white adapter will break the port will break the port on the diaphragm cap.

In order to power your pump you will need a Medela transformer. If your breast pump suddenly stops working, it may be that you need to replace your transformer.
